Wabi-Kusa is the impression of nature on a small scale. Incorporating land, water and air, combining these three elements of natures beatuy, and bringing them into our homes and our gradens. Redefining the way we create scapes, bringing the process of creation into nature and allowing us infinite resources to do so.

After Seeing the wabi-kusa “magic balls” in the ADA 2006 catalouge I was instantly inspired! Straight away I hit up google and this is what I found:

As it is plain to see Chongs composition and stunning photography skills really turn this into a masterpeice. Chongs Idea of it being a biotope was very refreshing, and one of the key factors in introducing me to wabi-kusa. Realising the nature is a nearly infinite resource of both plants and inspiration was really the driving force behind my own ventures into WK.

The other thing I love about this peice, is that it is one of the only WK's I have seen to include livestock, Chong includes wild caught (by himself!) cherry shrimps and guppys. And they look simply gorgeous:

To sum up, this peice in simply fantastic and the thing that started my intrest in Wabi-Kusa.

Using Wabi-Kusa we recreate natures work, and express ourselves. We can add fish and more plants. A whole eco-system can thrive and flourish as nature intended.
